Graduate student wins Health Talks Student Contest

Sarah Chapdelaine, a second year Master of Occupational Therapy student, has won the Health Talks Student Contest from the B.C. Patient Safety and Quality Council. The contest asked B.C. post-secondary, high school and elementary school applicants to express their hopes for health care through essay, video, or mixed media project. Chapdelaine’s winning essay on stigma and suicide expresses hope to evolve the language used around suicide as it relates to mental illness, to remove the stigma to facilitate recovery for those at risk and help heal those left behind. As winner, Chapdelaine will deliver a Pecha Kucha presentation at the Health Talks event on Feb. 26, 2014.
