The Board of Governors has approved the appointment of Michael White as Associate Vice-President, Campus and Community Planning, effective Feb. 3, 2014. White worked as a senior planner at the City of Vancouver for 10 years where he led city-wide initiatives in eco-density, revitalization, sustainable neighbourhoods and the new Canada Line. In Abu Dhabi, he was the senior planning manager at the Urban Planning Council where he created a range of plans and policies, including a new capital city plan and neighbourhood plans for the United Arab Emirates.
He will work closely with the Executive team in overseeing the Campus Planning and Design, Consultation and Sustainability and Engineering portfolios for both campuses, the Planning and Development Services and Programs and Animation for the Vancouver campus, and Campus Planning and Infrastructure for the Okanagan campus.
