Zoology prof receives Society for Neuroscience achievement award

Zoology professor Jane Roskams has been recognized by the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) with a Bernice Grafstein Award and $2,000 during its annual meeting, Neuroscience 2013. A renowned expert on neural repair and regeneration, Roskams is recognized for her commitment to student outreach efforts at local elementary and high schools, her dedication to UBC graduate students, and her commitment to the Society for Neuroscience and the International Brain Research Organization. Roskam has pushed to increase the hiring of more women faculty positions at UBC and has worked closely on programs aimed at drawing young women toward careers in the sciences with the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology.
