UBC professors elected CAHS Fellows

Three UBC faculty members have being inducted into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS): Prof. Elizabeth Saewyc, Prof. Kendall Ho and Prof. Carole Gotay. Fellowship in the CAHS is one of the highest honours in the Canadian health sciences communities.

Saewyc is a renowned expert in youth health issues, in particular how stigma, violence, and trauma influence teens’ health, coping and risk behaviours, and how the protective factors in relationships and environments can buffer this trauma for young people. For more on Saewyc, click here.

Ho is an emergency room physician at Vancouver General Hospital and director of UBC’s eHealth Strategy Office. His research is in the domain of technology-enabled knowledge translation, the use of information technologies to accelerate the incorporation of latest health evidence into routine practice.

Gotay, professor and Canadian Cancer Society Chair in Cancer Primary Prevention at the School of Population and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, is recognized for her leadership in the field of cancer prevention and for her research which spans population health practices and clinical studies.
