UBC men’s health researcher launches new prostate cancer website and online forum

To showcase study findings about how support groups promote health among prostate cancer patients, School of Nursing Assoc. Prof. John Oliffe has launched a website with online resources at www.prostatecancerhelpyourself.ubc.ca

The Prostate Cancer: Help Yourself website features information about Canadian-based prostate cancer support groups, video interviews with prostate cancer survivors and leading experts in prostate cancer care. A forum offers users opportunities to contribute to ongoing conversations by posting their thoughts, questions and replies. Users can also issue “e-vites” to help others find a prostate cancer support group in their region.

For the next phase of his research, Oliffe is inviting licensed healthcare providers to share their views about prostate cancer support groups by completing an on-line survey at http://bit.ly/SFDICP. Eligible participants will receive a $50 gift card upon receipt of their completed survey. For more information, email: hcpsurvey@ubc.ca.
