Event: As part of ShakeOut BC, a province-wide earthquake drill, UBC will be hosting an earthquake preparedness symposium. Earthquake experts are also available for comment.
Date: Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012
Time of the symposium: 4 – 6 p.m.
(Experts are available for interviews prior to the symposium).
Location: Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability (CIRS)

Media are invited to speak to earthquake experts, some of who are participating in a symposium with topics that include a study of how a major earthquake could affect Vancouver, earthquake warning technology, understanding liquefaction and earthquake preparedness at UBC. Media are also welcome to attend the symposium.
UBC Chief Risk Officer Ron Holton will be moderating a series of talks by Profs. Carlos Ventura, Liam Finn, Civil Engineering professor emeritus and Research Scientist Murray Journeay, Geological Survey of Canada.
