Nobel Laureate and Boston University Prof. Elie Wiesel will be receiving a special honorary degree from UBC on September 10.
The ceremony will honour Wiesel whose personal experience of the Holocaust led him to use his talents as an author, teacher and storyteller to defend human rights and peace throughout the world. For nearly 60 years, Wiesel’s message has been both simple and powerful: “For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.” He is the author of more than 50 books, the latest entitled Hostage (August 2012), published by Knopf.
