UBC professor launches fertility education website

In 2010, UBC professor of counseling psychology Judith Daniluk conducted an online survey of 4,000 childless women and men between the ages of 20 and 50. Based on her findings, Daniluk determined there was an urgent need for public education to enhance fertility awareness and ensure that women and men have accurate, up-to-date information about fertility life span and available fertility testing, preservation and family building options.

A need was identified for an independent, online source of current fertility information and decision-making support. In May 2012 a team lead by Daniluk launched http://www.myfertilitychoices.com/, an interactive site containing current information about available fertility testing, preservation, treatment and family building options.

The site is supported through funding provided by the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), with administrative support from UBC.
