Engineers help disaster responders make better decisions

The Disaster Response Network Enabled Platform (DR-NEP), led by electrical and computer engineering professor Jose Marti, can help to save lives around the world by modeling a community’s response to a natural disaster. The platform simulates multiple systems such as the power network, electrical network and telecommunications network. The software can be used to train people in a multitude of disaster scenarios or can used in dealing with a real event.
