Thinkers and leaders from the non-profit, volunteer and business sectors gathered at last week’s Non-Profit Partnerships Summit: Collective Impact through Social Innovation to discuss innovation and create a made-in-B.C. model for social innovation.
The province is partnering with UBC Sauder School of Business, the Advisory Council for Social Entrepreneurship, Ashoka Changemakers, LIFT Philanthropy Partners, and Telus to launch a “collabetition” in 2012. This competition will invite British Columbians to submit their solutions to social problems, rewarding community-led innovations that show the most promise of improving the lives of British Columbians.
“This is a unique opportunity for the Province of British Columbia and the many leading for profit and nonprofit organizations here to innovate in order to tackle some of the most pressing social and environmental problems we face. We are proud to represent UBC in launching this initiative and are committed to engaging faculty and students in this grand experiment,” says James Tansey, Executive Director of ISIS at Sauder School.
