Event: Celebrate the Beaty Biodiversity Museum’s first birthday party with new public programs, including biodiversity-themed party activities, a new research-focused tour, screenings of the documentary Raising Big Blue, and the announcement of the museum’s Name a Spider contest winner.

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is turning one year old and the public is invited to the celebration. On Saturday, October 22, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum will launch new programs that will continue until the end of November.
New programs and activities include:
Birthday Party activities: Decorate your very own birthday hat and play biodiversity-themed birthday party games; daily for a limited time only
Scary (and Cute) Spiders in the Museum Lecture with Wayne Maddison: Saturday, October 22, 1 p.m. Maddison will announce the winner of the Name a Spider contest.
Raising Big Blue: Weekends at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 2:45 p.m.
Exhibit: Walk the length of our world’s history along an incredible 30-metre evolutionary timeline, spanning 4.54 billion years of earth’s history.
Tour: Museum tour highlights research being done at UBC: Daily at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., additional weekend tour at 3:30 p.m.
Puppet show: “This is your life!” Meet a variety of animals and discover their life stories. Weekends at 11 a.m.
Story time: Weekdays at 11 a.m., daily at 3 p.m.
Art exhibition: IsoTYPE, a series of student and community generated art, exploring issues in sustainability and biodiversity.
