Education professor wins Senior Research Award

Bonny Norton, a professor and Distinguished University Scholar in the Dept. of Language and Literacy Education at UBC’s Faculty of Education, has been named the winner of the first Senior Research Award by the Second Language Research SIG of the American Educational Research Association.

Norton has been recognized with this award for her research on identity, investment and language learning and for her contributions to literacy and international development. Norton’s research has generated more than 100 publications, and according to her nominees, “changed the face of second language research.” She is also a strong mentor of new scholars from around the world.
