UBC Engineering students Peter Guan, Carol Lee, Jinting Zhu and Andy Tsai won first place in NYC Next Idea, a contest aimed at raising the city’s profile among entrepreneurial students of engineering and applied science.
Awarded the undergraduate prize, the UBC team designed a wireless system for remotely monitoring the heartbeats and body temperatures of patients that they said could improve the efficiency of hospitals and clinics. They will receive $15,000 and office space in the city as a base to start their businesses.
