Event: The University of British Columbia and the BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion will announce a partnership to benefit veterans at the kickoff of the annual Poppy Campaign in the lead up to Remembrance Day.

Media are invited to the kickoff of the annual Poppy Campaign at City Hall. UBC and the BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion will announce a partnership to benefit veteran transition to civilian life. The first Poppy will be pinned on Mayor Gregor Robertson by Ron Funnell, chairman of the Vancouver Poppy Fund.
Following the campaign kickoff and announcement, media will have the opportunity to conduct interviews with:
- Marvin Westwood, professor in the Counselling Psychology Program in UBC’s Faculty of Education
- Tim Laidler, 25-year-old veteran
- Bob Brady, Vice President, BC/Yukon Command, The Royal Canadian Legion
