Saint Mark’s College gains membership status in ATS

The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada has voted to admit Saint Mark’s College at UBC to Associate Membership status. The vote took place during the 2010 Biennial of ATS in Montreal.

John J. Stapleton, Principal pro tem of Saint Mark’s College, was at the 2010 Biennial of ATS in Montreal for the vote.  “Our status in ATS provides assurance about the quality of our degree programs to our current students, prospective students, alumni, faculty, governors, donors, and to employers. It also recognizes our commitment to continuous improvement in our programs in theological education. And of course, those students who wish to pursue doctoral programs in theology following the completion of a Master’s degree from Saint Mark’s College will find it easier to be admitted to PhD programs.”

ATS is an organization of more than 250 graduate schools that conduct post-secondary professional and academic degree programs to educate people for the practice of ministry, and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines.

Saint Mark’s College joins the rest of the Theological Consortium in Vancouver as a member of ATS, including the Vancouver School of Theology, Carey Theological College, and Regent College.
