UBC professor receives Governor General’s Medal in Architecture

UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture Prof. Patricia Patkau has received, along with architects John Patkau and Michael Cunningham, the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture for La Grande Bibliotheque du Quebec in Montreal. The medal recognizes outstanding achievement in recently built projects by Canadian architects.

Opened in 2005, La Grande Bibliothèque is a massive national library and archives, consisting of a general library, a children’s library, the collection Québécoise and a variety of public spaces.

La Grande Bibliotheque du Quebec was one of 12 projects awarded Governor General’s Medals for 2010 by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Canadian Council for Arts.
