UBC Researchers, Partners Earn More than $2 Million in CFI Funding

Researchers at the University of British Columbia and its affiliated teaching hospitals have received more than $2 million in infrastructure research funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) it was announced today.

“We welcome the Government of Canada’s investment in research excellence and innovation at UBC,” says John Hepburn, UBC Vice-president, Research. “This announcement further contributes toward attracting and retaining the top researchers to UBC.”

Projects ranging from childhood obesity to developing biological systems to treat wastewater and waste are some of the 17 funded projects.

B.C. universities will receive funding for 25 of 134 Leadership Opportunity Fund projects worth $22.5 million. The University of Victoria earned funding for six projects and Simon Fraser University earned funding for two.
