UBC International Students Get a Taste of Home at Annual Holiday Dinner

go home for the holidays.

Date/Time: Tuesday, December 23, 2003.

Place: International House, 1783 West
Mall, (north end of campus, off NW Marine Dr.)

Dr., or meter parking at the Museum of Anthropology off
NW Marine Dr.

International students who can’t get home during the
Christmas break can still get a taste of home this holiday
season at UBC’s annual Christmas Dinner.

Approximately 250 students will be treated to a traditional
turkey dinner and dessert, a personal visit from Santa, prize
draws and a round of Christmas carols.

“For international students, this is a great opportunity
to soak in the holiday cheer — Canadian style,” says
Father Jim O’Neill, chair of this year’s UBC Christmas
Dinner.

“Domestic students can still get a taste of home —
in their home away from home.”

Volunteers, including retired UBC staff and faculty, as well
as members of the UBC RCMP detachment and Fire Department,
donate their time to make the dinner possible, including decorating,
cooking and serving students.

This is the 10th year that UBC has been organizing the dinner.
Students pay $2 to help defray costs.
