Sauder School of Business hosts lecture by Frank McKenna on government and business

Hon. Frank McKenna, former premier of New Brunswick, presents
the UBC John V. Clyne Lecture — How Do Government and Business
Relate in a Rapidly Changing World? — Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at
UBC Robson Square (800 Robson St., Room C150/180).

In this public event presented by the Sauder School of Business
at UBC, Frank McKenna will discuss the role of government
and business in economic development.

Frank McKenna, P.C., Q.C., is one of Canada’s most
respected public figures, having won three overwhelming mandates
as Premier of New Brunswick and achieving national prominence
for his leadership. During his tenure, New Brunswick became
a leader in restoring fiscal responsibility and in the reform
of social programs.

McKenna is currently counsel to the Atlantic Canada law firm
McInnes Cooper, holds a number of corporate directorships,
and continues to pursue his long-time passion — the further
economic development of Canada’s Atlantic region.

The John V. Clyne Lecture Program affirms UBC’s commitment
to forge strong, new links with the community it serves. The
program is named in honour of John Valentine Clyne, a UBC
graduate and successful lawyer appointed to the Supreme Court
of B.C. in 1950. Clyne was elected to the UBC Senate for three
terms between 1951 and 1960 and served as Chancellor from
1978 to 1984. He passed away in 1989.
