Dr. Martin Schechter has been appointed head of the Dept. of Health Care and
Epidemiology for a five-year term.
A UBC alumnus, his research focuses on infectious disease
with a particular
emphasis on HIV/AIDS. A Medical Research Council Senior
directs the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcomes Sciences and
director of the Canadian HIV Trials Network.
Schechter has served as acting head of the department since August 1999.
Marketa Goetz-Stankiewicz, professor emerita of Germanic Studies
