Michael Byers, the Canada Research Chair in global politics and international law at UBC and a political science professor, spoke to The Tyee about a Canadian mission through the South China Sea.
He said recent comments by U.S. officials and increasing tensions around the region means Canada must have a concrete reaction plan if the situation worsens.
