Rising pH a threat to wild and hatchery trout in B.C. lakes

Patricia Schulte, a UBC zoology professor, was interviewed for a Vancouver Sun story about the impact that rising pH levels in B.C. lakes can have on B.C. fish.

Schulte, who is leading a project to look for genes in fish associated with resilience in warm and high pH waters, said at least 60 lakes in the highest pH category can’t support effective stocking programs.
