CBC reported on a bird species discovery that occurred as part of a joint project between UBC and the Universidad ICESI in Colombia.
In 2015 Julian Heavyside was working to conduct long-term monitoring of the bird community to estimate population size when he helped discover the alto de pisones tapaculo.
