CTV reported on a magnetic drug implant created at UBC that could provide an alternative for patients struggling with numerous pills or intravenous injections. Ali Shademani, a UBC biomedical engineering PhD student, created the device that releases drugs in controlled amounts when triggered by a magnet moving on the surface of the skin.
