Castro criticism isn’t fair

Bob Ratner, a UBC professor emeritus of sociology, wrote an op-ed in the Vancouver Sun about the criticism of Fidel Castro.

“It grieves me to read the vitriolic, unbalanced criticism of by some commentators in the wake of his death. His detractors seem to forget the murderous dictatorship, bolstered by U.S. Mafia bosses, that Castro’s revolutionary movement supplanted,” he wrote. “Why is Castro lionized by so many world leaders, including ours, if he was the villain depicted by his opponents?”
