15 years later feds still fail to address deadly problem

Forbes quoted Frank Navin, a UBC engineering professor emeritus, in a story about seat-back failures in cars.

“There is no reason on God’s green earth that we cannot design against that sort of thing. I personally feel the North American [auto] industry has been somewhat negligent,” Navin said in an interview 15 years ago. “It is not that they can’t do it; it will simply cut into the profits of a vehicle if they do it.”
