Okanagan is only apple maggot-free zone in North America

The Times Colonist published a Vancouver Sun story on a website created by a student at UBC’s Okanagan campus that aims to raise awareness about an invasive fruit fly.

The apple maggot prevention project uses landscape ecology to engage the public. According to the project, 30 per cent of Canada’s apples grow in the Okanagan.

“This is threatened by the impending arrival of the invasive apple maggot pest,” reads the website created by Brian Muselle, a biology master’s student at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
