Marijuana could help treat drug addiction, depression

The Times of India featured UBC research that found smoking marijuana can benefit mental health.

Researchers discovered evidence that cannabis can help people who deal with depression, social anxiety and PTSD, though it may not be ideal for people with bipolar disorder.

“In reviewing the limited evidence on medical cannabis, it appears that patients and others who have advocated for cannabis as a tool for harm reduction and mental health have some valid points,” said Zach Walsh, a psychology professor at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
