Vice quoted Ruth Elwood Martin, the director of the Collaborating Centre for Prison Health and Education at UBC, about raising children in prison after reports that convicted murderer Kelly Ellard is pregnant in prison.
“If you actually looked at a Mother-Child unit, you would say ‘wow, this is a great place to raise a child.’ It just looks like a regular pre-school or day-care. It’s a very appropriate place to raise a child,” said Martin.
