Vancouver housing bosses look to non-profits to ease affordability

Paul Kershaw, a professor at UBC’s school of population and public health, was quoted in a Vancouver Sun story on alternative housing solutions.

Kershaw said more subsidized housing could help but even if governments were able to double the stock of below-market housing, most people would still need to rely on the market for homes.

“We ultimately need the market to remind itself that its first purpose is to provide an efficient supply of suitable homes that are in reach for what people can earn,” he said.
