Vancouver hospital signs deal with ‘leading’ genomics firm

Metro News highlighted a research deal between St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver medical researchers and BGI, the world’s largest genomics company.

“This is the leading edge of medicine,” said Paul Man, a UBC medicine professor and head of St. Paul’s Hospital. “Genomics, analyzing the functional aspect of genes, is the basis for a lot of eventual new drugs. It will be important for us to work together — us providing the clinical input and patients’ problems, and them looking at their gene expression.”
