‘Pole of reconciliation’ to be raised at UBC

Haida artist James Hart is carving the totem pole commemorating the lives of children sent to residential schools that will be raised at UBC, Vancouver Courier reported.

The pole, which weighs 26,000 pounds, is expected to be raised in the spring near the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. A residential school is the focal point of Hart’s pole.
