It’s a whale of a dirty job

The Province mentioned UBC’s Beaty Biodiversity Museum and quoted UBC’s marine mammal research director Andrew Trites for a story on Mike deRoos who assembles whale bones and installs them in museums.

Soon deRoos will remount a huge blue whale skeleton for London’s Natural History Museum.

“It’s recognizing that he’s the best in the world,” Trites said. “It’s going to be huge when (London) opens. To me, he’s the Michelangelo of skeletons.”

The story also appeared in the Vancouver Sun.
