Stress leaves exploit a medical and legal grey area

The Vancouver Sun quoted Mark Thompson, a professor emeritus at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, for an article on stress-related medical leaves.

Leaves of this type are more common today than they were even 25 years ago, Thompson said.

“Part of that is the way doctors diagnose things today,” he said. “Plus, I think society has become a bit more forgiving of these conditions. People accept this now as part of normal work life.”
