Scientists discover how cancer ‘invisibility cloak’ works

The Daily Mirror quoted UBC researcher Wilfred Jefferies who has helped to develop a new tool in the fight against cancer.

Jefferies, a scientist at UBC’s Michael Smith Laboratories, explained how his research has shown that our immune system can outsmart cancer cells.

“We discovered a new mechanism that explains how metastatic tumours can outsmart the immune system and we have begun to reverse this process so tumours are revealed to the immune system once again,” he said.
