Global BC featured UBC basketball alumnus Jama Mahlalela who is now a member of the Toronto Raptors coaching staff.
Mahlalela’s former coach, UBC Thunderbirds men’s basketball coach Kevin Hanson, reflected on the athlete’s time at the university.
“He was such a good people person. UBC created an award in his name to be an outstanding citizen for the university,” Hanson said. “It’s so wonderful that good things happen to good people, and he’s living that dream right now.”
