What happens when couples’ drug use is not compatible?

Metro News spoke to Zach Walsh, a UBC psychology professor, for a story on the issues that can arise when two people in a relationship have different drug use habits.

Walsh studies the effects of substance abuse on relationships.

“Like anything, whether it’s online shopping or fantasy football, if it starts to become something you’re over-focused with, that can hurt your relationship,” he said. “If cannabis leads you to be more likely to isolate (yourself) and zone out of interpersonal relationships, then it can be harmful.”
