What happened when Hillary finally smiled

Quartz spoke with Michael Woodworth, a psychology professor at UBC’s Okanagan campus, for a story on the response to Hillary Clinton’s cheerful demeanour during the recent presidential debate.

While Clinton had previously been told to smile more, onlookers questioned her repeated grinning during the debate.

Woodworth specializes in the detection of body language cues that are crucial for identifying narcissists and psychopaths.

“I don’t believe Hillary’s smiling during the debate was insincere or fraudulent,” he said. “She genuinely appeared to be—for the most part—enjoying herself, and exuded confidence.”
