UBC prof works on tool to fight dangerous infections

The Vancouver Sun featured research by UBC microbiologist Bob Hancock that may help doctors deal more effectively with pus-filled lesions known as abscesses.

Hancock and his colleagues used a synthetic peptide to combat the bacterial stress that can cause an abscess. This peptide treatment could be tested on humans within a year.

“It has the advantage that you would only have to deliver a relatively modest amount,” Hancock said.
