Event details: It has been a day of ups and downs for UBC school of kinesiology alumnus and Richmond, B.C. native Evan Dunfee at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Dunfee placed fourth in the men’s 50-km race walk after a collision with a Japanese walker. Dunfee appealed the race result to Olympic officials, was moved to third and the Japanese athlete disqualified. Japan successfully appealed that ruling, bumping Dunfee from the podium and returning the Japanese athlete to bronze position.
Interviews: UBC track and field coach Laurier Primeau is available today in Burnaby for interviews and can discuss the appeal process.
