Genomics: Finding a faster way to diagnose TB

CBC interviewed Jennifer Gardy, a professor at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health and the Canada Research Chair in Public Health Genomics.

She said the current timeline of four to six weeks to diagnose tuberculosis is inefficient.

“And it’s not unheard of to take two-three months to get a full set of results back,” she said. “The reality is that it’s still something we’re dealing with in B.C. and it’s still something we’re dealing with around the world.”
