B.C. Liberals face balancing act on housing as election looms

Tom Davidoff, UBC’s director of the Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate, was interviewed for a Canadian Press story published on City News about B.C. housing.

Davidoff said if the sole aim is to win the upcoming 2017 provincial election, the Liberals should be cautious about a housing market crash.

“I am not saying I think a crash is the most likely scenario, but it totally could happen, and if you have a weak energy sector combined with a crashing housing market, that would be a great way to lose an election,” he said.

The story also appeared in iPolitics, Globe and Mail, Global News, Vancouver Sun, Metro News and the Times Colonist.
