Premier addresses housing crisis, ignores foreign ownership

CTV News interviewed UBC economist Tom Davidoff for a story on housing affordability in B.C.

Premier Christy Clark addressed housing concerns in a YouTube video. She said the province is taking action to ease the Lower Mainland’s housing crisis. Davidoff said the principles are a good start, but foreign ownership is a serious omission in the issues addressed in the video.

“The most important [issue to be addressed] is the critical role of money coming in from overseas, people who don’t pay taxes here driving up real estate prices for those who do,” he said.
