Providing clean opioids could reduce deaths

The Vancouver Sun interviewed Mark Haden, UBC professor at the school of population and public health, for an article on the possible solutions to the fentanyl crisis.

Supervised consumption sites, providing clean, pharmaceutical-grade drugs to some users and ending prohibition are presented as possible solutions. Haden advocates for an end to drug prohibition.

“There isn’t another way out,” Haden said. “You cannot harm reduction your way out of this.”
