Event details: Fires last year at Port Metro Vancouver and onboard a boat in False Creek highlight the need for firefighting vessels in a large port city. Twenty teams of second-year UBC engineering students have designed remote-controlled boats that can move quickly, navigate obstacles, carry cargo and deliver water to fires using water cannons. Each fireboat must cross the water and use a custom-designed water cannon to put out the fire.

Interviews: Instructor Agnes d’Entremont and students are available for interviews.
