Academic Minute: Malaria vaccine and cancer

UBC senior research scientist and urology professor Mads Daugaard talks about discovering that a malaria protein is effective in shrinking cancers in mice on Inside Higher Ed’s Academic Minute.

“The irony that we might exploit one disease to destroy another is one of those twists of biology that reminds me of why I became a scientist,” said Daugaard. “But I also think it’s nature’s way of telling scientists that we should never discount the possibility of finding answers where we least expect it.”
