UBC engineering student Tejbir Wason and his team won Ottawa’s Start-up Weekend competition with MyJam, an app they developed that allows users at a party to ‘like’ songs. The songs with the most votes move up on a common queued playlist. Following the competition, the team’s twitter account flooded with messages from music industry venture capitalists interested in the development of the app. The team plans to launch the app for iPhone by end of August and for Android in December 2014.
