During the last three decades, earthquakes that have occurred in urban areas around the world have generated a better understanding of how earthquake mechanism and soil conditions affect the seismic response of buildings and their contents. Civil Engineering professor Carlos Ventura will discuss the seismic risk in British Columbia and what we can do about it.
