UBC is officially unveiling a new campus entrepreneurship initiative, together with the announcement of new funding from the BC Innovation Council, that has already attracted 100 new venture ideas.

Already considered among North America’s top universities in technology transfer the new UBC initiative provides a range of supports to students and researchers to boost entrepreneurial activity on campus, similar to efforts being taken at other tech hubs at MIT, Harvard and Stanford.

Media will have the opportunity to talk to researchers leading two ventures: one developing a novel bioprinting system for creation of 3D biological tissues, and another creating dramatically cheaper gas compressors.

Others in attendance will be the Hon. Andrew Wilkinson, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services, Greg Caws, president and CEO of the BC Innovation Council, Pascal Spothelfer, UBC VP Communications and Community Partnership, Robert Helsley, dean of the Sauder School of Business and Andy Talbot, Executive Director, Entrepreneurship@UBC.
