Alden Habacon receives 2012 Maharlika Award

Alden Habacon, Director of Intercultural Understanding Strategy Development at UBC, has been honoured with a 2012 Maharlika Award for his leadership, community service and his achievements in the field of culture and arts.

The Maharlika Awards, presented by the Filipino Canadian Cultural Heritage Society of British Columbia, honour members of the Filipino Canadian community for their outstanding achievements. “Maharlika” in Tagalog idiom connotes nobility or royalty, the title bestowed on the respected leader of a clan or tribe. The awards are intended to recognize noble heroes in society.
